Hi, My name is Rickey Bowen and this is my second year as principal at Valliant High School.  It is with great honor and privilege that I serve our community and school in this capacity.

Our mission at Valliant High School is to create a curriculum that meets the educational aspirations of every student.  Also, we believe that academic success consists of a solid foundation in the core curriculum and extra-curricular activities.  We believe that any activity a student can be associated with will build character, discipline, and responsibility.  There are a wide range of activities for all of our students to be a part of and it is our hope they will become successful members of our school community.

 For the college bound student, we have a wide variety of Advanced Placement Courses that are academically rigorous and challenging.  Also, students can enroll in college courses through SOSU via the Idabel Higher Education Center.  Students that choose concurrent enrollment earn college credit as well as credit toward high school graduation.  We also offer a variety of vocational programs for the student who strives to excel in the technical trades.  Courses at the Vo-Tech in Idabel and Hugo offer students a curriculum designed to meet the needs of a graduate wanting to enter the workforce.  Also, we offer courses like Tech Connect, Woodshop, FFA, and FCCLA that allow students to experience hands-on training while they earn credit for graduation.

 We also believe that extra-curricular activities are an essential part of our high school curriculum.  With offerings like band, choir, baseball, basketball, football, softball, track, academic team, FFA, and FCCLA, students are able to exercise leadership and sportsmanship which we believe are essential to the character of our students.
