Ms. Vaught’s STEM classes recently visited the Oklahoma Geological Survey OPIC in Norman. Students received “hands on” learning experiences in the field of geology. In addition, they met an anthropologist, seismologist, petroleum geologist and a field geologist and could ask questions. The students learning experience was not over at the end of the trip. They returned with fossils and minerals to research as well as their very own Raspberry Shake Seismometer. The Raspberry Shake will be producing real-time data which is sent to and used by OGS seismic analysts. If the device detects an earthquake, scientists will use that data right away to start figuring out where the earthquake happened and how big it was! That makes our students true citizen scientists! This is the first seismometer placed in our area by a research group.

It’s a Great Day to be a Bulldog! Lady Dawgs face Henryetta in Henryetta at Noon today in the Regional Tourney. The winner will play Dewey for a shot at the State Tournament! The Bulldogs travel to Wilburton tonight to face the Diggers at 7:00 in a District matchup. Make a day of it, hop in the car and follow our teams on this glorious day.
