Parents, please check with your children today concerning flu shots available on Tuesday, October 15. Please return permission forms to school by Monday, October 14. Parents and siblings are welcome to get their flu shot that day as well. All shots are FREE. Feel free to contact the school nurse with any questions!

Ms. Vaught’s STEM classes recently visited the Oklahoma Geological Survey OPIC in Norman. Students received “hands on” learning experiences in the field of geology. In addition, they met an anthropologist, seismologist, petroleum geologist and a field geologist and could ask questions. The students learning experience was not over at the end of the trip. They returned with fossils and minerals to research as well as their very own Raspberry Shake Seismometer. The Raspberry Shake will be producing real-time data which is sent to and used by OGS seismic analysts. If the device detects an earthquake, scientists will use that data right away to start figuring out where the earthquake happened and how big it was! That makes our students true citizen scientists! This is the first seismometer placed in our area by a research group.
